How-to Put Together a Healthy Lunch Box For Back To School

August 28th, 2012 - Food News, How-To, Inspiration

A Well-Rounded Lunch Box Includes:

  • Whole Grains (Examples: High fiber wrap, pita, or sliced bread with at least 3 g fiber per serving, (I like LaTortilla wraps, Brownberry protein and health-full bread, and Ezekiel brand wraps and bread. Other ideas include whole grain cereal in a ziplock, high fiber pasta, or a Dashing Dish muffin!)
  • Lean Protein (Examples: Low sugar Greek yogurt, lean deli meat, cheese sticks, thinly sliced cheese slices, hard boiled egg, or chicken or tuna salad.)
  • Veggie/Fruit (Examples: apple slices, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, bananas, sliced red peppers, cucumbers, baby carrots, etc.)
  • Healthy Fat (Examples: Small portion of nuts, hummus, or even olive oil based mayo or avocado on their sandwich. You don’t have to focus too much on incorporating a healthy fat, as many foods have at least some fat in them, like cheese or the yolk of a hardboiled egg for example! )

Other Tips for Preparing a Lunch Box:

  • It’s great to get kids involved in making their lunches! It gives them a sense of independence as well as sparking an interest in learning healthy habits at a young age! These habits will most likely carry them through life, so any time you can get kids in the kitchen to cook with you is truly a wise investment!
  • I have found in my own life that it is best to prepare lunches on the weekend, (I sometimes will prepare as many as a week’s worth of lunches on Sunday night!) or the night before. This prevents any feelings of being overwhelmed in the morning!
  • Leftovers often make great lunches as well and prevent any unnecessary wasting of food!

I am excited to share that the New Month Two Meal Plan is now available! This meal plan has the same general layout as month one, which features a whole new month of new recipes, (there are even some of the best membership recipes included!) This meal plan is available for one, two, and four people in the form of individual weeks, and a complete month!

Month two can be found by clicking on the meal plan of your choice, and clicking on the drop down month two.

After doing a poll on month one meal plans, I made a few modifications on these! They have no leftovers or dinners out, and are filled all my favorite ‘clean’ and delicious Dashing Dish Recipes plus never before seen recipes!

The Dashing Dish meal plans feature a week or a month’s worth (depending on which one you choose) of unique & fresh recipes, which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks & desserts. It features a weekly grocery list & calendar to keep you organized!

I received tons of great feedback from month one meal plans, be sure to check out the testimonials if you are interested!

“As a man thinks in his heart so is he” ~ Proverbs 23:7

This verse tells us that what we believe in our hearts about ourselves will inevitably be what we become. So, how do we change what we believe in our hearts about ourselves, and in turn become what God wants us to be? Renewing our minds to who HE says we are, and what HE says we can do, will change what we believe about ourselves, and will ultimatley shape who we become!  I hope this dashing devotional video helps you learn some simple steps on renewing your mind!

Link to 30 Day Dashing Devotional with Prayer. (Please note, this prayer is a great place to start, however I would encourage you guys to write your personal prayer own as the Lord leads you!)

I heard this song yesterday and KNEW I had to share it! It touched the very core of my soul as I listened to the words….I pray it does the same for you! You are truly beautiful because you are unique, one of a kind, and were created for a purpose that only YOU can fulfill!  You are so very precious to the Lord!!!

This song was written from the perspective of how the Lord views each one of us. I pray God renews your mind to this truth as you meditate on the words to this beautiful song by Nicole Nordeman.

The Daily Dish~ Moving Time & A BIG Announcement!

August 9th, 2012 - Announcements, Daily Dish

Hey everyone! I pray everyone is having a blessed week so far! I am finally feeling ‘settled’ in after our big move, so I thought I’d share some of the photos of our rental home, and tell you the crazy story behind this move!

I also want to share an awesome opportunity that God brought my way… So, here we go!

Here is a picture of our one bedroom apartment that we have lived in for the past three years! It was hard to say goodbye, as it was our very first place as a married couple, but I knew it would be so nice to have more space! (It was getting to the point where I was running out of places to ‘hide’ things. I even had food stored in my laundry room!)

Run the Race with Patient Endurance! Don’t Give Up!

August 2nd, 2012 - Dashing Devotionals

“Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that He has promised.” ~ Hebrews 10:36

God has really been speaking to me about patience lately. Although I believe it applies to many different areas of my life, one of the most common areas that I believe that impatience gets a lot of people (including myself at times), is in the area weight loss or overall health/fitness goals.

We all know that it takes time to put weight on, and it usually happens so slowly that it seems to ‘creep’ up on people. When people get ‘out of shape’ it doesn’t just happen over night, but is most likely a combination of getting too little activity, and poor food choices over time. The problem arises when this behavior forms into ‘habits’ that we don’t even realize have formed.
