A few weekends ago was A BIG EVENT~ It was my best friends wedding!!! Ashley has been my best friends literally since I was born…Our mom’s were best friends, and were pregnant together, and therefore when Ashley and I were born, we did everything together as well!

Ashley moved away when we were about 7 years old to Virginia, but we never let the distance pull us apart, and we have remained the best of friends through the years!

Needless to say, I was THRILLED and blessed when I heard she was getting married, and she asked me to stand up on her special day! To make it even more special, my whole family made the trip out to watch my best friend get married! It was such a wonderful and special time to share with a lifelong friend, and to top it all off, her new husband Justin was so very sweet and wonderful, and it was obvious that God put them together!

I don’t know about you, but I love looking through wedding pictures…There is just something so amazing about watching two people that you know God has brought together to become one….So I thought I’d share some of the pictures from the wedding with all of you!

Ashley got married in the cutest little old-fashioned chapel! Here they were practicing for the rehearsal.

Here Emily and I are enjoying the rehearsal dinner that night.

And here’s Ash and I at the rehearsal dinner, it was such a blast!

The next day we all got ready in a bridal cottage right by the church! It was so cute and cozy, and a great way to spend the day getting ready!

I got a half up style that the stylist did beautifully!

After a full day worth of primping, us ladies were ready! :)

Before we knew it, we were off, ready to watch Ashley walk down the aisle!

Here everyone was anxiously awaiting the beautiful bride…

And moments later…Ashley and Justin were officially Married!!!

Ashley was such a beautiful bride! I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house, and certainly not on my end!

After pictures we headed into the reception hall that was beautifully decorated with silvers and ivory!

And I joined my family to dine, dance, and celebrate the NEWLYWEDS!

My husband Sean and I danced the night away… We’ve always loved to ‘boogie’ down, ever since we were 16 at school dances!

Ashley and Justin were simply RADIATING the Love that God creates between a husband and wife! It was so wonderful to celebrate! :)

We finished off the night with a sparkler ‘exit’ for the bride and groom! It was so magical!

Ashley and Justin…I wish you a lifetime of happiness and God’s Blessings! Thank you for letting me share in your special day! Love you both!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to clarify the payment for the membership, and what it’s all about, because there seems to be a lot of confusion…

From day one I have been offering the DD membership for pay what you can afford, or for FREE if you can’t afford to pay anything! (Most people are seeming to miss this…My husband and I agreed that God told us to offer it for a donation basis of pay what you want to support DD, or for free if you could not pay).

As most of you may know, I left my full time nursing job to minister to women in this area, because I truly feel that it is what God called me to do. If Dashing Dish has ministered to you (through recipes, devotionals, etc.) , I would ask that you would prayerfully consider supporting the work behind Dashing Dish.

However, if you’re still unsure about it, I would invite you to join for free, and donate if you feel led.God is up to some pretty big things, and I want everyone to be a part of it. I’m so excited to be a part of such an awesome community, God is awesome!

Also please note:

The membership is more than just recipes, it includes fitness routines, articles, and videos!

There will still be free recipes all the time that are not included in the membership, so everyone will still have access to some of the recipes if you choose not to be a member.

The neat thing about becoming a premium member is that you will receive your own login information that will allow you to save recipes, workouts, and premium content for quick and easy access to your favorites! Once logged in, you will see a bar appear at the top of your screen, which will allow you to log in to your account and save and organize content as you wish.

For more information and FAQ’s about the membership, click here!

“Don’t Let You’re Hearts be Troubled, Trust in God & Trust Also In Me.” ~ John 14:1

We see in this scripture that Jesus was telling His disciples that He was going away, yet He was instructing them to not let their hearts be troubled, but rather to trust Him. Notice He told them NOT TO LET THEIR HEARTS BE TROUBLED.

This shows us that we have the choice to let our hearts be troubled. If we decide that we are going to truly trust Jesus, then we have to do so…Period. When troubling thoughts or situations are all around us, we must listen to Jesus’s instructions, and make the decision to stop those troubling thoughts in their tracks! You may be thinking that it’s simply impossible to have peace, because your situation is so devastating. I’ve certainly had times like this, and then God painted a picture for me in His Word that made it much easier to ‘shake off’ that discouragement that was trying to come against me.

In Acts 13, Paul and Barnabas were going about their business, preaching the good news, and suddenly some ‘influential’ leaders got wind of what they were doing. These leaders became extremely jealous of Paul and Barnabas, and they decided to form a mob against them, and run them out of town. Although these men of God were rejected by some of the most highly respected people of their day, they simply made the choice to ‘brush off ‘ any feelings of anger, hurt, or rejection without allowing these feelings to get the best of them.

You see, if they would of dwelled on the rejection of man for one minute, they could have easily gotten offended, and even allow a bitter root to form in their hearts, and even got discouraged from their calling. Instead, they chose to brush off these things that could have greatly troubled their hearts, (like dirt off their shoes), and continued to walk on, staying on the course that God had for them.

We then see that because they chose to trust God, that they went on to the next town, and the bible tells us that, “the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.” …All because they chose to not let their hearts be troubled!

Here is a prayer that I wrote for the times when I need a reminder to keep my mind and thoughts focused on the truth, and keep my heart fixed on Him:

“Lord, I pray that you bring this word of truth up in my heart when I am tempted to be troubled. I choose to follow your instructions, and not let my heart be troubled, but rather, I will trust in you, and your love and promises to me. Lord, where I am tempted to be discouraged, I pray that you will lift me up and comfort me, and I pray that you will help me make the choice to ‘shake off’ any feelings of hurt, resentment, or anything else that would get me out of peace and trusting in you. I am making the choice to not let my heart be troubled now, but rather, I will trust in you! In Jesus Name, Amen!”

First off I want to thank everyone so much from the bottom of my heart for all the compliments on the site! I loved being able to show you guys what my hubby and I have been working on for the past 9 months! We have lot’s more in store for you all so I’m just thankful that I get to be involved with this journey with all of you. As you may already know, it’s been a very busy week with the launch so if you wrote me an email, I’ll try to get to it as soon as possible! I also just wanted to share some stuff with you!

Updates:

The meal plans were redirecting to a 404 page after purchase – that is now fixed and working properly!

The reason the premium membership login wasn’t working for some people was that they were still seeing older versions of the site. Everyone should be seeing the most up to date version of the site now, so your login should be working fine now.

Some people who joined for $0 and wanted to update so they could pay in the future were having problems adding their payment info. That is fixed and working properly now!

The ‘add to favorites’ feature is still being worked on! Should have that fixed in the next couple of days! Thanks for your patience on this, it’s definitely one of my favorite features of the membership.

Lastly, the email ingredients feature was sending the email to people’s spam box and displaying really weird. We fixed that and that feature is working really nicely now! I recommend trying it out! :)

Coming Soon (within a week or two):

Single person meal plans!

Gluten free and clean eating meal plans!

Video content for the premium section!

Facebook connect for your avatar (premium member)!

Paypal payment option (health coaching & meal plan)

Now that the site is up and running smoothly (for the most part), the hubby and I are going to sit down and start designing and laying out the cookbook! (Be sure to sign up here to be notified when it’s out! This will also give us an idea of how many people are interested, so we know how many to order.)

That’s all the news I have so far! I’m excited to keep sharing the new features as they come a long. If you have any questions about services, health coaching, memberships, etc… please look at the FAQ pages for each! Otherwise shoot me an email and I’ll try to get back to you as soon as possible! I will be visiting my best friend and standing up in her wedding in Virginia until Sunday, so if it takes me a while to get back to you I apologize!

Thanks for tuning in and God bless!

Welcome to the new and improved Dashing Dish website! It’s been a while in the making, 9 months to be exact! What a great present for Dashing Dish’s two year anniversary. My husband has devoted many nights working to perfect every detail on this website so that it will be organized and easy to use. As some of you may or may not know, I left my nursing position to pursue Dashing Dish as my full time career (read story here). I have spent the last 9 months developing meal plans, premium content, health coaching services, devotionals, and workout routines just for you! I’m so excited to share all the new features that have been added, so let’s get cooking!

Easy to Find Recipes

On my old site it was very difficult to find a specific recipe. You either had to scroll through page after page, use a very long list with no images, or use the dreaded search bar that took forever to load. The new site features various ways to find new and exciting recipes very quickly.

A Search Button (located at the top right) is great for finding anything on the site, especially recipes.

A Recipe Index is now neatly laid out with thumbnails that include the Recipe Category, Title, and Nutrition Breakdown.

A Filter Button, at the top right of the Recipe Index, allows you to filter through any recipe category.

A Weight Watchers Filter allows you to sort through recipes by Weight Watchers Points.

A ‘Similar Recipe’ Section in each of the recipe posts, which allows you to find some similar ones!

Printing & E-Mailing Recipes

I have received many requests to have a printing option for the recipes. I am so happy to announce that a print option is now available! You can also email yourself the grocery list for any of the recipes by simply clicking the email button.

Recipe Method, Ingredients & Nutritional Breakdown

The ingredients for every recipe will be located at the top right corner of the page. The method may have step-by-step pictures or a video demonstrating how to prepare the recipe for easy preparation. My new site will be including the nutritional breakdown for each recipe in addition to listing the calories and Weight Watchers points.

Blog Posts

The blog posts will remain the same. I will still post my latest Dashing Devotionals and Daily Dish Posts in the blog section and will be updating it regularly. To check the blog, simply click on the BLOG link. The latest blog post will also appear on the new Dashing Dish homepage so that you will always be updated when there is a new post. The only change is that my latest recipes will now appear on the RECIPE INDEX, and my latest workouts will appear on the FITNESS section of my site. I will also be adding new features to my blog, such as recipe contests, more giveaways, product reviews, and the latest health and fitness news!

Fitness Page

A new feature to the Dashing Dish site is the fitness page. New workouts will now be posted in the fitness section and will be filtered by cardio, strength, and circuit workouts. Each workout includes the time and equipment needed so that you can easily find a workout that suits your needs. There is also a print option available for the workouts so they are easy to take to the gym.

Premium Content

Also new to Dashing Dish is exclusive premium content that is accessible to you for just $5 per month (or a donation of your choice). I created this part of my site in order to share some of my most favorite recipes, month-long progressive workout routines, videos, and articles that I’ve written. All of the content is unpublished to the public and is specialized in advancing your progress to help you reach your personal goals. The neat thing about becoming a premium member is that you will receive your own login information that will allow you to save recipes, workouts, and premium content onto your own ‘personal favorites board’ which will provide quick and easy access.

Health Coaching

I am so excited about this new online health coaching service that I will be offering. Dashing Dish health coaching is a customized four week program to help you form new, healthy habits that are intended to be sustainable for life. Health coaching is an opportunity for you to converse with me personally as I develop a specialized nutrition and fitness plan based on your height, weight, goals, and fitness level. You will receive customized workouts, meal plans, bite sized lessons, and weekly goals for four weeks. We connect once or more per week to discuss your progress, answer questions, and keep you on track.

Meal Plans

I created these meal plans using the organizational tools and strategies that have helped me plan and prepare healthy meals for myself and my family each week. These meal plans are meant to help you plan your meals with plenty of variations, swap-outs, and recipes that will help you stay organized and on track. The saying, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail” goes a long way when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. I have made healthy eating a no-brainer for you, without all the guesswork, so that you can reach and sustain your goals.

Shop

I’m thrilled to announce that my Dashing Dish Cookbook is coming soon! You can submit your e-mail by clicking on the cookbook link to be notified when it comes out. In my store you will also the online services that I will be providing; such as my Meal Plans, Health Coaching, and my 30 Day Devotional.

Services

The services page features my In-Person services. If you live in the Detroit area, I would be pleased to provide you with some of my In-Person services. I am also willing to travel for speaking engagements. Please contact me for more information.

FAQ’s

There is now a FAQ page where I answer many of the most frequently asked questions that I receive. If you don’t see an answer you’re looking for, just use the ‘Submit a Question’ form to the right of the page and it will allow you to ask me any question directly. There is also a FAQ page for Meal Plans, a FAQ page for Health Coaching and FAQ page for Premium Membership.

Interested in knowing what others are saying about Dashing Dish products or services? Head over to the testimonials page. If you have something that you’d like to share with me, or if my site has impacted you in any way, I’d love to hear about it! Contact me to share your story on the testimonial page.

Speed Improvements

If you ever visited my old site, you are probably aware that most of your time spent was spent waiting for the page to load. We’ve upgraded our hosting, which will allow huge speed improvements and way less downtime.

Logo & Design

As you can see, I have a new logo! My husband and I hired Drew Melton of You’re Just Lucky to develop a girly, yet sophisticated logo for my new site. Many thanks to my hubby for his art direction on this site! This site would not be possible without him!

I hope you guys enjoy the new and improved website! I’m really looking forward to sharing this journey with all of you. Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think.

I hope everyone is having an amazing week so far! I just returned from sunny Newport Beach California, which was a sister’s trip to celebrate my sister Sarah’s 30th birthday! It was such a blessed time that we had together, and I can truly say that there is no greater friend than a sister!

We stayed at my sisters condo for the week, which is right in the heart of Newport California, and it just so happens to be a temporary ‘home’ for my sister and her husband as they moved out there short-term to help people get established in their business.

This was a view from her place! AMAZING view!!!!

We started off the week with whale watching! We also saw tons of dolphins that followed our boat as we traveled out deep into the ocean find a whale!

We could see Laguna Beach among many others from the boat as we were on the water. It was Beautiful!

We also went to Beachcombers, one of the most popular dining experiences in the area. You get to sit out on a deck right on the beach while enjoying some amazing food!

We went for brunch, so I got an egg white omelet with asiago cheese!

And then we enjoyed an ice cream sundae (in honor of the birthday girl of course!)

The beaches there were beyond incredible, and the weather was in the 70′s and sunny all week!

We went shopping a few different places, but some of my favorite shopping was in the small boutiques and in Laguna!

Take this candy shop for example…It was so much fun because it was so unique and it brought me back to my childhood for sure! There aren’t many places like these any more!

My sister Sarah also brought us to one of the most beautiful mall’s in Newport, and much to our surprise, she ended up treating us to a shopping spree, (on her birthday week no less!) When she brought us into the Louis Vuitton store, Emily and I didn’t even know what to do! I have never been on a shopping spree where I could buy whatever I wanted, much less go into a Louis Vuitton store!

I think I spent the first hour just staring and walking around in shock! But, eventually I chose a purse, and almost cried… More or less at the fact at my sisters sheer heart for generosity. She is one of the most giving people I know, always thinking of others before herself, (clearly, I mean she was buying us purses on her birthday!)

After that shopping experience we were starving! :) So, we went to Cheesecake Factory with our new ‘matching’ purses! It was so much fun! I got the Mexican Salad off the “Skinnylicious” Menu, it was delicious! There are so many great healthy options on that menu!

We spent one of the days in Cali at Disneyland! It was by far one of my favorite days. My sisters and I had never been before, so it was a real treat.

My brother in law got us girls a VIP tour guide, which was an awesome way to experience the entire park in one day…She got us straight on any ride/attraction we wanted without standing in any lines!

We watched the parade during the day…

And a light show at night. So incredible, as Disney always is!

If anything could possibly top Disneyland, I think it could only be a hot air balloon ride! We woke up extremely early to watch the sun come up for my sister’s birthday from none other than a hot air balloon!

This experience was so incredible. It truly opens your eyes to the majesty of God. He is an incredible artist!!!

I would say that everyone must take a hot air balloon ride at least once in their life.

We finished off the day with a trip to Sarah’s favorite restaurant in Newport, Javier’s Restaurant, an authentic Mexican restaurant.

We all got the Chicken Fajitas….They were SOOOO good!

For dessert we got Sprinkles cupcakes delivered straight to the restaurant. It was such an awesome surprise for Sarah since the banana cake is her favorite cake on earth!

We finished off the dinner by giving Sarah her gifts…She opened the book that Emily and I made her with letters from friends and family! It was a tear-jerking moment for sure! It was a really neat to watch her read letters that poured back into her, since she is always so busy thinking about and blessing other people before herself!

I am so proud of my sisters for so many reasons, but I can truly say that Sarah is one of my greatest inspirations because she truly spends her life looking to bless other people! Spending one week with her has made me realize the tremendous impact that we can have on others by simply putting others before ourselves. That is what Christ did when He gave His life for us…And if we are to live as examples of Him, then there is no better way to represent His love than to serve others!

I hope you all have a great week, and are abundantly blessed! xo Katie

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t ever tempted to compare myself with others. In fact, I truly believe that this is something we are all must deal with at one point or another. I used to think it was only natural to have thoughts such as, “I wish I had her hair, clothes, body, etc.” However, I have found through the Word of God that there are many verses that warn us not to entertain such thoughts.

The reason being is that God created each one of us for a unique purpose, and to fulfill something that only we could. He also created each one of us to look, act, and be unique! Think about it, He gave each one of us a different type of style, hair texture, skin color, and even body type…(take a moment to look around at all of the hundreds of types of bodies He created, it truly is amazing!) When you step back and realize this, you come to realize there is no point in comparing, because we are all so unique! He created each one of us to be different that way so that each one of our strengths, gifts, and abilities would come together to form a strong and healthy ‘body’, (1 Corinthians 12:12).

During the time that I felt God really ‘pruning’ me in this area, He led me to this verse…

“Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.” ~Galatians 6:4

I realized that if I was ever going to get my eyes off of other people, then I would have to keep my eyes on what God has given me, and using it to the best of my ability. Each time I find myself starting to compare myself to others, I simply make the choice to stop those thoughts in their tracks and think about this verse. I re-direct my thinking to the truth, which says I was designed for a unique purpose and that no one else can fulfill my destiny but me! I make a choice to focus on the strengths God has given me, do the best that I can with what He placed in my hands, and I thank Him for who He created me to be! When we do this, we give glory to God, and get the satisfaction of a job well done! Now that sounds way better than walking around feeling jealous, insecure, or insignificant any day!

Below is a video I posted on the Dashing Dish Facebook Page a while back, and I felt the Lord prompting me to share it here as well in case you missed it. It’s an awesome sermon that goes a bit deeper on this subject, so I encourage you to check it out! I know it sure blessed me, and I pray you will be blessed by it as well!

Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. ~Psalm 55:22

My sister Emily and I were on a walk the other day, and we got to talking about the things God was showing us. Emily had quite the profound revelation from the Lord…In fact, it made such an profound impact on me, that I knew I had to share it with all of you!

During her devotional time, God showed my sister Emily that we often times experience unnecessary anxiety and burdens that we were never meant to carry. He showed her that this occurs when we bring something to God through prayer, but we ultimately end up ‘taking it back’.

When we give something to God, it feels wonderful because we are essentially giving the burden, worries, and cares of that thing over to Him. We are doing what Philippians 4:6 instructs us to do which is to, “Not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” And when we do this, (present our requests to Him), we feel an overwhelming peace knowing that it is in His hands, which is what the next verse explains will happen…”And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The problem lies however, when we ‘take back’ that thing that we gave to Him in the first place. Whether it be taking back control of something we surrendered to Him, trying to take care of ourselves in an area, try to figure out our own way, when we initially asked for His direction…All of these things will cause us to take back the very thing that we gave to God.

God revealed this scenario to my sister using the following illustration…

Emily was planning her friends baby shower at the time, and she was in charge over all of the planning and delegating. She had so much on her plate with planning the shower, and working full time as a school teacher, that she suddenly found herself getting somewhat overwhelmed as the shower date drew closer. However, when she started delegating tasks to people that she knew and trusted, she suddenly felt a huge weight taken off, and that the tasks she was responsible for were manageable.

God showed her that this action of ‘delegating tasks to others’ was similar to giving things over to Him. When she gave things to Him that He promised to take care of (financial provision, protection, direction, just to name a few), then she could do her ‘part’ with ease and confidence knowing that He was taking care of His part. When she asked Him for something, or gave something over to Him, she was essentially trusting Him with that area of her life, and she didn’t need to worry about if it would ‘get done’ or not. She simply had to trust that it was taken care of, and not give it a second thought.

Then God spoke to her and said, ‘Now what if you had taken back some of those tasks that you had previously delegated to people…how would it have made you feel?’ Emily replied, ‘Burdened and overwhelmed’. God replied, ‘You see, in life, whenever you are feeling overwhelmed or burdened by something, that is essentially what is happening! Every time you give something to me, and then take it back, you are taking on more than you can handle, because you were never meant to do everything alone! You do your part, and give me what I already promised that I would take care of, and you will be able to manage you part with ease knowing that I am taking care of the rest!’

Through this revelation, God showed my sister that every time we start to feel burdened, anxious, or overwhelmed by something in our lives, it is essentially because we haven’t ‘given’ it over to Him in the first place, or if we have, we have tried to take it back into our control. This action will always lead us to feelings of heaviness, because He never designed us to take on what He has promised to care for.

Often times, I think that we do this without even realizing it, (I know I sure do)…But the good news is, there is a simple way to overcome this!

The first and most important step in giving something to God and leaving it there, is to trust Him to take care of what He has promised to take care of. This trust can be developed in many different ways…But I have found there a few key ways that really stand out through the illustration God gave my sister.

The people that my sister delegated ‘tasks’ to for the baby shower were people that she knew, loved, and therefore trusted. She knew that they were capable of the task, and that when they said they would take care of it, that it would get done. She never had to worry or have a second thought about if they would actually do what they promised, because she trusted their word.

We can get to that same place with God by understanding how much He cares for us, and loves us. If you don’t feel like you have ever had a true revelation of His great love for you, that is certainly the first step in trusting Him. All you have to do is simply ask the Lord to reveal His great love for you…I can promise that He wants to show you even more than you want Him to!

Also, you have to know His promises to you. Take the area of finances for example, if you don’t know that He promised to provide all of your needs (Philippians 4:19) then you will never know that that is something He told you that He would do, so you won’t really know if you can hand that over to Him, and trust Him with it. Knowing His promises will help us to have a tremendous amount of peace, knowing that He promised to take care of us!

Of course, this goes without saying that there are times that there is still a part for us to play….and again, knowing the Word of God will help clarify if there is something for us to do. Take again the area of finances, as we give our finances over to Him, (by prayer and making our requests known to Him), we can rest assured that He is our provider, and will provide all of our needs. We then do our part by obeying the Word in this area, and doing what we can do, which is ‘putting our hand to something, so He can bless it’, and ‘tithing and giving’ (Numbers 18:26, Luke 6:38).

If you have found yourself burdened down, anxious, or worried about any area of your life, I believe this message is for you. God wants you to know that you were never meant to handle everything on your own, which is why you feel weighed down with the cares of this life.

If you haven’t already, pray about that thing that you are worrying about, and release it in to God, knowing that He has promised to take care of you. Ask Him to show you if there is anything you can do, and leave the rest to Him.

If you have already prayed about and given any area of your life to the Lord, but you find yourself still worrying about it, then it is most likely because you have tried to take on the care of that thing by trying to deal with it on your own. Recognize that He has promised to take care of you, guide you, and provide for you, and release it once and for all over to Him.

If you find yourself worrying about that thing again, stop right in your tracks and say, ‘No, I refuse to worry about this thing anymore, because God is taking care of it!’ He promises that if we do this, that His peace that passes all understanding will flood our mind as we put our trust in Him! (Philippians 4:7).
