Banana Split Protein Shake

Here's the Dish

After announcing the winner of my Dashing Dish protein shake contest, I had many requests for the ‘runner-up’ recipes! Well…Thanks to two awesome DD fans, Michelle and Brandie, I received the runner up submissions for a banana split protein shake. I altered the recipe just a bit to my personal liking and thought I’d share it with all of you! This makes for a wonderfully creamy shake that tastes like you are eating dessert, for breakfast! Now that is my kind of breakfast…Way to go girls, thanks for sharing your wonderful idea for a DD shake flavor…It’s so good it’s almost too good to be true!

In all of my shakes I use DESIGNER WHEY 100% Premium Whey Protein Powder! It tastes awesome, is affordable,  and is 100% natural!

Method

The estimated total time to make this recipe is 5 minutes.

1

Put everything into a blender and blend until creamy consistency is reached! Top with Reddi Whip and a cherry on top if desired. Enjoy!

Ingredients

1/2 cupLow fat Cottage Cheese (or 1 cup low fat greek yogurt) 1
1 ScoopVanilla protein powder 2
1-4 PktsStevia or low calorie sweetener of choice
3-6Ice cubes (alter according to desired consistency)
1/2-1Water (alter according to desired consistency)
1/2 Small Banana
1/4 cupCrushed pineapple
1/2 cupFrozen strawberries
1 tbsCocoa Powder
Optional: 1-2 tbs Reddi Whip, cherry for topping!

1 Cottage cheese may sound strange, but TRUST me… this is what makes the ‘MILKSHAKE’ consistency! Also, if you are sensitive to dairy, you can use tofu to get the same consistency!

2 I used Designer Whey protein powder. You could also use chocolate, strawberry, or banana protein powder instead of the vanilla if you desire!

Katie's Tip!

This shake is PERFECT for a post-workout meal! The natural sugar from the fruit will restore much needed energy to refuel your body! Oh, and not to mention it's delicious and refreshing! :)

I tried this, and it turned out a kind of muddy pink, probably from the frozen strawberries. Delicious!

This looks amazing…and I would love to make it however, for me the calories are a bit high…could you substitute banana pudding or extract for the banana flavor? or sugar free strawberry jam for the strawberries? I may have to split it and share…thats no fun!

I made an altered version of this with the limited ingredients I had in my house. It was amazing! I’m an athlete and need to drink protein drinks a lot. Alteration: Blended Silk coconut milk with chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, whole banana, frozen strawberries, and pineapple. It tasted just like a banana split with chocolate ice cream. Thanks for the recipe!
