Key Lime Pie Protein Shake

Here's the Dish

What could be better than enjoying a piece of key lime pie in a rich creamy shake packed with protein!?! This shake makes an excellent breakfast or snack, and is so delicious that you will have a hard time believing that it is actually good for you!

In all of my shakes I use DESIGNER WHEY 100% Premium Whey Protein Powder! It tastes awesome, is affordable,  and is 100% natural!

Method

The estimated total time to make this recipe is 5 minutes.

1

Put everything into a blender and blend until creamy consistency is reached! Top with a crushed graham cracker if desired!

Ingredients

1/2 cupFat free cottage cheese 1
1Scoop vanilla protein powder 2
1 tbsLime juice (fresh or bottled, I personally like key lime juice best!)
5-10Ice cubes (Depending on how thick you like it, use less for a thinner consistency)
1/2-1 cupWater (Alter this according to desired consistency)
2-4 pktsStevia (or 1/4-1 tsp sweetener of choice)
2-3 dropsGreen food coloring, or a handful of spinach to make it green!
Optional:1 tbs sugar free vanilla instant pudding mix
Optional:1/2 tsp xanthan gum 3, 1 graham cracker, crushed into crumbs

1 Cottage cheese may sound strange, but TRUST me… this is what makes the ‘MILKSHAKE’ consistency! Also, if you are sensitive to dairy, you can use tofu to get the same consistency!

2 I use Designer Whey Protein powder. It has 100 calories per scoop. I buy the vanilla flavor because it’s a good base to add whatever flavors you want to make. It is also all natural. You can buy it from Kroger, GNC, Trader Joe’s, Amazon, or Netrition.com.

3 You can get xanthan gum from most grocery stores in the gluten free section! Just a pinch of it makes your shake so thick and creamy!

Katie's Tip!

This shake is a great meal replacement on a busy morning, or as a post workout snack!

What can you use instead of cottage cheese? I did not like the taste of cottage cheese when I tried Red Velvet Cheesecake. THanks.

My husband can’t stand the taste of cottage cheese. I have used greek yogurt in them and Almond Milk. Both were deelicious!

this is sooooo good! key lime pie is one of my favorite desserts and it’s also my go to pie to bake. my recipe has a gingersnap crust instead of graham cracker, so for this shake i basically combined your gingerbread cookie shake recipe with this one and it tasted just like my pie. thanks for the yummy recipe!

I was really excited to try this, but when I wasn’t a big fan of it when I made it up. I double checked the ingredient list and everything was in there so I don’t know. I’m a little disappointed because I tried a lot of the other meal recipes and they were all really good.

This one seems a little bit more watery than others, maybe because the pudding mix is missing?

I liked the flavor of this even though it wasn’t as thick as some of the other shakes I have made (using the same amount of ice). I noticed that the consistency was a bit different…. almost like the ingredients were separating, likely from the acidic juice and the dairy. Did this happen when you made yours and any suggestions to improve the consistency?

I love it! I made the shake this morning and it was wonderful! I have a lap band and sometimes breakfast is difficult. I used a quarter teaspoon more of the lime juice and only one stevia packet. I think the vanilla protein powder I use brings a lot of sweet. I also used the optional sf pudding.

Thank you so much for sharing!
