One of the greatest memories I have of going out to eat when I was a kid was going to Olga’s with my mom and two sisters. I would always get the three cheese olga with an orange cream cooler on the side! I remember my mom wouldn’t always let us get the cream cooler, so it was a ‘special’ treat when we did! I can honestly say that my protein packed Orange Cream Cooler tastes almost identical to Olga’s famous shake. The only difference is that my version is high in protein, low in sugar, and only has about 200 calories! Beat that Olga’s!!!

Oh wow, this looks incredible! I have to try it! I loved orange dreamsicles (or is it creamsicles?) when I was younger and I’m sure this tastes just like those. Unfortunately I know I won’t be able to find True Orange (there’s not much of anything where I’m living right now), but I will try Crystal Light or Jell-o.

Just wanted to say I have made this twice now without the TRUE ORANGE.
I found orange extract and it is super yummy!
thanks for the idea

Would you reccomend this for breakfast alone? or what could I pair with it? I’d really like to know what kind of whey protein that is good to use, and where to get it, any/all tips would help, please email me at magiikal@aol.com
Thanks!~!~!~

could you use kool aid since you are adding your own sweetener? I prefer not to use the jello or crystal light.

Most of your shakes/smoothies use protein powder in them, and I was wondering what I could substitute for it since I don’t use it at all.
Dashing Dish said:
double the cottage cheese or yogurt

Thanks for getting back to me. I also found out that you could use skim milk powder, gelatine powder or for certain ones peanut powder (like pb2). I thought I would share those options as well for others who don’t use protein powders…those options all add some protein as well, though I’m sure it’s not as much as actual protein powders.

Could you use crystal light, or just a few tbs of orange juice? I do not have the true orange. I live in a small town and our stores do not carry this product. Thanks!
Dashing Dish said:
crystal light would work..or orange juice

Yum! So good, I didn’t have any orange extract or true orange packets so I just substituted 1/2-3/4 cup of OJ and left out the milk/water option. Obviously this increased the calorie count but it was still perfectly delicious and I shared it with my 18 month old who may be your biggest (little) fan :)

Mindy…I use Designer Whey Protein Powder. You can get it online on amazon, or here: http://www6.netrition.com/designer_page.html
or they usually have it at kroger, gnc, whole foods, and trader joes!
