In case you aren’t aware, McDonald’s has a thick and creamy green milkshake on their menu just for St. Patty’s Day. A small size “Shamrock Shake” has 400 calories and 60 grams of sugar! If you’ve ever been tempted to grab one of these festive green shakes, look no further! This version is so thick and creamy that you can eat it with a spoon! The best part is, it’s packed with protein and is extremely low in sugar and calories. And, I can promise you that it tastes downright AMAZING! Get your St.Patty’s Day ‘fix’ with my lean, green protein shake!
In all of my shakes I use DESIGNER WHEY 100% Premium Whey Protein Powder! It tastes awesome, is affordable, and is 100% natural!

I didn’t have cottage cheese, so I just used almond milk and ice. ALL of the joy, NONE of the guilt – thanks for adding delight to my evening!!

This looks so great! Does the spinach change the flavor of the milkshake?
Carol said:
Spinach never changes the flavor of any milkshake/smoothie, only the color.

This looks amazing Katie! I’m stopping on the way home tonight to get the xanthan and pudding mix. Congrats on the Shape posting too. GO GIRL!
The directions state red food coloring. Is that red and green, or just to be green?
Have a Blessed week!

This is crazy…I have been making my own variations of your {fabulous} protein shakes for months now. A few weeks ago I made this exact shake! :) But I used a few teaspoons of sugar-free vanilla powdered coffee creamer instead of pistachio pudding, but I totally want to try that. The spinach worked wonderfully. My husband didn’t have a clue. ;)
Thanks so much for your ministry! I’ve never commented on your site, but I’ve been following it for months. Keep up the good Spirit-led work. :)

First off let me say I looove your shake recipes! They’re the best! But I did have a question, if I leave one of them in the fridge for a few (3-4 ish) hours will the shake still be yummy and not separated? These are SO dang big I can never finish them in one serving, but I don’t want to miss out on all the nutrition.

SO GOOD. I am celebrating St. Patty’s day with this delicious treat!
K Rae said:
Can you use peppermint extract or will the flavour be off?
Tasha said:
Sounds good, thanks Katie! I’ve had one of your shakes every day in a row since I tried my first one, and I really do feel like they are making it MUCH easier to stay within my daily calorie intake. Not only are they super filling, but they also curb my sweet tooth which has always been a major issue for me.

Just tried this today.. wow its very very good!
My figures came out to 255 calories, 40g of protien, 7g of sugar. Thats one heck of a healthy + tasty protein drink!
My protein powder provided 26g per 1/4 scoop, + 14g for 1/2 cup of no fat cottage cheese! Awesome, ty

yeah!!! thank you so much jessica! i’m over to check out yours! :)

thanks maria!

hey tasha! you can actually do 2 things: you can throw it in your freezer for a few hours, and microwave it for 30 seconds or so, and stir, or you can make the shake smaller using less water and ice!
Katie Farrell said:
peppermint extract would work as well!
