Sparkling Strawberry Lime Smoothie

Here's the Dish

I love smoothies, and I’m always trying to come up with different combination’s! One day I was craving something refreshing for a snack, and had a lime flavored sparkling water in my fridge.  I thought, why not take my ‘traditional’ strawberry smoothie and make it ‘sparkling‘!?! The sparkling water had a ‘tart’ lime taste, and I realized how perfectly it paired with the sweetness of the strawberries! I wanted to take it up a notch, so I added a splash of lime juice, and prestothe Sparkling Strawberry Lime Smoothie was born!

This smoothie is creamy, thick, and delicious and is the perfect balance of tart and sweet! It makes a great snack, but it could easily be turned into a meal by adding some vanilla protein powder. Take your smoothie to a whole new level…Make it ’sparkling’ today! :)

Method

The estimated total time to make this recipe is 5-10 Minutes.

1

Place the strawberries, lime juice, cottage cheese (or yogurt), and sweetener in blender. Note: If using Cool Whip add it to the blender during this step!

2

Add the ice, followed by the sparkling water (or diet soda). Blend until smooth.

3

Pour into a large glass, garnish with whip cream or a wedge of lime.

Ingredients

1 cup Frozen strawberries (unsweetened)
Splash Of lime juice
1/2 cup Low fat cottage cheese1
1 tbs Sweetener of choice2
8-10 Ice cubes (may use less/more depending on desired consistency)
1/2-3/4 cLime flavored sparkling water (or diet 7 up)
Optional2 tbs Cool Whip to make creamier, Lime or strawberry to garnish, Pinch of guar or xanthan gum to thicken, 1-2 Scoops vanilla or plain protein powder

1 Or vanilla yogurt~however, I encourage you to try cottage cheese- it balances the sweet/salty flavors and it tastes great, not to mention, it’s high in protein!

2 Or to taste - use less if using diet soda that is already sweetened

Yah I love smoothies! This is a really great idea. Thanks for sharing. And as for you and your sister wishing for Summer to come, it seems like Florida has been experiencing it for the last 2 months.

I just tried it and I loved it. I bought a lot of the LaCroix Lime flavored sparkling water and my husband and I both hated it. This is the perfect way to use it up. I just wish I had the Cool whip to make it even better-maybe next time.

I made this today and it was SO good. I don’t like cottage cheese normally, but I can never taste it in any of your recipes. :)
