Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as[is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor]. Whoever speaks [to the congregation], is to do so as one who speaks the oracles (utterances, the very words) of God. Whoever serves [the congregation] is to do so as one who serves by the strength which God [abundantly] supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified [honored and magnified] through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.1 Peter 4:10-11 (AMP)
When God knit you together into the complex, multifaceted, glorious person you are, He included a gift. He bestowed upon you a special ability, unique to anyone else in all of creation. There is only one you. Do you understand that there are divine appointments the Lord plans to accomplish for His kingdom plan that only YOU can fulfill? Isn’t that simply incredible? God put interests, passions, special abilities, skills, and spiritual gifts into your heart, mind, and spirit He intends to use to serve others, and to bring Him glory. I’m always surprised and a bit saddened when I speak with people who are certain that they are the one single exception to this. They are convinced that in all of history, somehow they are the one person God forgot when He was handing out gifts. I’ve spoken with people absolutely unaware of any of their special gifts. People who felt utterly convinced they had no ability to impact or serve people for the Kingdom of God. If you feel that way, it is simply not true. It’s not.
If you believe you've missed the gift, you’re simply being held back by a lie from the Enemy. That lie clouds your vision and keeps you from recognizing your gift, and the special ways God purposed you to contribute to His kingdom plan. One way to overcome that lie and begin identifying your gifting is to think about what excites you. What is it that “fires you up”? What ignites a passion in you? The answer is likely your starting point. Your passions, even your pain are not by random accident, they are your purpose! Spend time today in prayer. Ask God to reveal your gifts in ways you’ve never recognized or experienced before! What special skills, abilities, passions, and gifts has the Lord given to you? How can you purpose to use those things to help further God’s kingdom today? You have a unique and high calling woman of God. Will you step into it today?
