Dashing Dish “Favorite Things” Video!

January 15th, 2013 - Food News

Where to Buy These Products:

Protein Powder: I use Designer Whey Protein powder. I buy the vanilla flavor because it’s a good base to add whatever flavors you want to make.  It is also all natural. You can buy it HERE.

Nu Naturals Stevia: The BEST stevia on earth…No bitter after taste, even my husband can’t tell it’s not sugar! I buy NuStevia Packets HERE. I buy the Nu Stevia Baking Blend HERE.

Peanut Flour: Peanut flour is actually the same thing as ‘FitNutz’ or “PB2” without the ‘brand name’. It’s a essentially a ‘dry’ form of peanut butter, where the oils are taken out.  Doing so makes it a ‘low calorie’ version of peanut butter, while still retaining the same peanut butter taste.  The best way to use it is in a recipe or protein shake.  I buy mine HERE.

Wrap Bread: I buy La Tortilla Wraps at my general grocery store (generally found in the ethnic foods section, or near the tortillas/wraps). I find the Joseph’s pitas and wrap bread at Walmart and HERE.

Protein Bars: I buy Think Thin protein bars at Whole Foods, Trader Joes, GNC, or the grocery store (found near the other protein bars). You can also find them online HERE. I also LOVE Chocolite Protein Bars, (they are only 100 calories, and they taste like candy bars, with 10 g of protein!). You can only buy them online HERE.

Bran Crackers: I find these online HERE. Another great option similar to these is Wasa Crackers found at most grocery stores.

For a complete list of my favorite products, check out this link!

There’s a brand of greek yogurt called Greek Gods, and its nonfat, plain version (all natural) tastes much better to me than Voskos or any of the other mainstream brands. We use it in protein shakes, in place of sour cream, and even as mayo in tuna salad, etc. It’s not as tangy as the other brands, so I find it more palatable.

I love Vega Vanilla Recovery Protein powder. Vega protein powders are vegan and chalked FULL of healthy extras to help your body recover from a tough workout.

I am a faithful user of Maca powder as well. Maca powder helps your muscles recover after a workout and helps you get better sleep. It’s an easy add-in to your protein shakes.

Well, my favorite food product changes regularly, based on my mood, cravings, seasons, etc. but, as a vegetarian, I consistently love whey protein powder. I’m not vegan so my protein options aren’t too limited (just no meat!), but almost no other non-meat source packs such a high protein amount in a single serving. Plus, I love that it leaves me full, but not stuffed-able to be consumed before a workout without cramping-and it’s so, so versatile-can be used in baking, mixed in yogurt, on its own with milk or water, in a smoothie-you name it.

Now, if we’re considering chocolate a food product, well, that’s a whole new comment ;)

My favorite food product is Walden Farms Syrup!!! ZERO calories, carbs, sugar, etc. ZERO everything!! It is so delicious and tastes like a guilty pleasure but it is actually extremely healthy!!! I use it in everything! I add it to oatmeal, homemade protein bars, shakes, greek yogurt, oatmeal pancakes, it goes on anything you can think of and tastes like real maple syrup but with zero calories and zero sugar!

About 4 months ago, I finally moved to the U.S to get married to my husband (was finace:)) after a year and a half of long distance relationship (We’ve been together over 6 years now, but we had to be apart because I was waiting to get my fiancee visa, which took like 9 months! so it was tough) We got married in May 2012, so still newly wedded. I am again waiting for the working permit, which makes me stay home with no friends and family. I have been getting very lonely and depressed, even though my husband was great to me. Then I found your website (Thank God). I was not familiar with ‘clean eating’ and other products that you recommended but I started use my time cooking. I have never been good at cooking, but your recipes and your story encouraged me so much. Thank you! Sorry the story became too long. just feel grateful:) Anyway, now in this new world, my favorite product is Oats! (I had no idea you can make it to flour for baking until I discovered your website!)

I’d like to start off by saying how proud I am of you and may God continue to always bless you! Without further ado, I have many favorite things that I really enjoy and love. First off date sugar this ingredient is made of dehydrated ground dates, a great substitute for your brown sugar, throw it in your baked goods, shakes and hot cereals its found in the baking aisle of your health food store its natural and a little goes a long way! Secondly, chia seeds is an excellent product because it is loaded with fiber, gives you energy and can be thrown in just about anything to up the health benefits! Last but not least Knox gelatin unflavored, this product can be used in drinks, desserts, soups, stews but besides the eating aspect there are health benefits stronger hair and nails, and helps with joint issues as well. Enjoy!

I absolutely LOVE PB2 chocolate. In the mornings, I will put 2 TB into my steel-cut oats, and it is phenomenal!! I also like the Chocolite chocolate candies…I have a HUGE sweet tooth and sometimes I just need a small sweet treat. Those candies are perfect!!! In addition to these, I recently discovered Arctic Zero, one of the most fabulous ice creams! It is only 150 calories for the ENTIRE pint, and 35ish calories for 1/2 cup. The vanilla maple and coffee flavors are fantastic.

My favorite food product would have to be Larabars and various low sugar/low calorie protein bars. I have tried to make them numerous times at home without success. Trader Joe’s coconut oil. I use it for everything! I have tried the powdered peanut butter and love it. To bad they don’t sell it my area. Protein powder. Greek yogurt (i use it to replace mayo/dressing). Old fashion oats are a must in my home.

One of my favorite food products is Brewers Yeast. It is a perfect food. Too many benefits to write about. It’s loaded with proteins, minerals and vitamins. Low in cholesterol, fat, carbohydrates, sodium and calories. It’s great for almost everyone! Helps to even stabalize blood sugar. And is great to retard the aging process! Add to your favorite shake, yogurt or cereal!

Any suggestions on less caloric protein bars? My typical snacks are around 100-150 calories and so a 250 calorie bar is a lot for me. I have been eating the Cliff bars for kids as they are around 130 calories, but noticed they have little protein.
