Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Prepare the asparagus by resigning it well and trimming off the tough stem.
Set up a breading station by whipping the egg whites in one shallow bowl, and mixing the parmesan cheese and garlic powder together in the other.
Dip each asparagus spear in the egg wash and then coat evenly in the parmesan. Place the spears on a wire rack over a baking sheet and lightly spray with cooking spray. Sprinkle with some salt and pepper.
Bake until golden and crispy, 17-20 minutes. Broil for 1-2 minutes after cooking if you desire a more crisp coating. Serve immediately with dipping sauce of choice!
